I Seriously Need These Sun Serums
Korean sunscreens are getting lighter and more powerful.
Every time Leaked Labs starts trickling back into my consciousness, I use my CBT skills, replacing negative thoughts with more positive ones: sun serums.
At this point, I’m tempted to book a flight to Seoul for tomorrow just to get my hands on them. Thanks to sun serum formulas, Korean sunscreens are becoming lighter, smarter, and more powerful than ever. Mind you, even K-beauty’s classic cream and lotion SPF forms already outperform American ones — for reasons I will soon get into.
Technically, sun serums have existed in the K-beauty universe since 2022ish. I somehow forgot that my beloved Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum falls into this category. But with brighter days approaching, a new wave has arrived, and I haven’t been able to stop yearning for one in particular. (I swear I’m not just saying that because actor Byeon Wooseok is the face of it. See above, if you’re not familiar with this man.)
What makes sun serums so compelling is their multi-functionality. They deliver the same speedy absorption, barely-there feel, and moisturizing effect as your favorite serums — all without the heaviness, pilling, stickiness, or greasiness of old-school sunscreens.
And they don’t stop at sun protection. Sun serums also target specific skin concerns, such as acne, dryness, sensitivity, hyperpigmentation, and loss of elasticity, so they feel like a more cohesive part of your skincare routine. Plus, you can shop the same way you would any serum, choosing a formula that addresses what your skin is going through and ingredient preferences (PDRN! Cica! Vitamin C! Exosomes!!). What a concept!!!!
All of this brings me to Dr.G’s Skin Boost PDRN Sun Serum, arguably THE skincare innovation of 2026 so far. Its baby-blue, watery gel is a PDRN-infused hydrating serum with UV capsules floating in it. It looks so dreamy, dewy, and weightless. I NEED IT! I LOVE BLUE SKINCARE!
