I said what I said.

How are you caring for your scalp lately?

I just got a PR email stating that the term “scalp serum” averaged more than 910,000 monthly searches, posts, and views across Google, TikTok, and Instagram between September 2024 and August 2025, a 77% increase over the previous year, according to market insights firm Spate.

To save you the search, I thought I’d share some of the scalp care innovations happening over in Korea that I have a feeling are about to make major moves stateside in the new year.

You see, K-beauty takes scalp care seriously. In Korea, people often consider it just as essential as skincare. Several products claim to prevent and reduce scalp aging, which can lead to dryness, breakage, itchiness, and hair loss. They even mention sagging!! Apparently, a saggy scalp = saggy face. Also, a strong scalp = voluminous hair.

The marketing of these products highlights a societal concern I have yet to discuss with my Seoul-based friends: A visible scalp, particularly along the part. One product even described its use as beneficial for those with “a crown that looks empty like a highway that’s been cleared” and for those experiencing “a scary, empty hairline when the wind blows.” The drama!

Another concern I hadn’t considered is scalp heat. After doing some research, I found that a hot scalp can lead to dandruff, increased oil production, inflammation, and even hair loss. Noted.

To put it simply, K-beauty is at the forefront of hair and scalp care, and not enough people are talking about this!

But I shall.

Ingredients aside, I’ve noticed that most of Korea’s best-selling scalp care products feature built-in tools to help stimulate the scalp — no brushes or gua shas needed.

This year has been about scalp serums applied via metal rollerballs, which allow for targeted application and enhanced absorption — key for dry, itchy, or thinning areas. They also provide some stress-relieving massage action, creating an at-home head spa moment. The metal also has a cooling sensation that helps instantly soothe itchiness.

But that’s not all. K-beauty brands are incorporating other fun, little functional tools into their packaging, like combs and spoolies. Ahead, I’m sharing some standout products worth your attention, including a serum that’s clinically proven to reduce hair loss by 97% in just two weeks. When one of these inevitably goes viral, plz remember who put you on first 😘

Rollerballs

  • Dr. Groot Scalp Revitalizing Solution: Haven’t tried this, but Dr. Groot is one of my favorite haircare brands of 2025. I loveee their Miracle In-Shower Treatment, which has a soothing, warming sensation and makes my hair feel so soft and refreshed. A PDRN spicule rollerball formula is also available in Korea that seems veryyyy interesting.

  • Aromatica Rosemary Root Volumizing Scalp Ampoule: This is the roll-on version of the Rosemary Root Enhancer, which my sister Taylor and friend Denise swear by for refreshing their scalps between washes, keeping oil at bay, and helping grow out their hair.

  • Round Lab Pine Calming Cica Scalp Ampoule: The haircare version of their skincare line that focuses on repairing and protecting irritated, sensitive skin.

  • LABO-H Scalp Strengthening Clinic Hairline Ampoule: LABO-H is a top haircare brand at the moment, particularly on Hwahae. This formula strengthens, soothes, and hydrates the scalp, particularly along the hairline, with probiotics, hyaluronic acid, and green tea extract.

Honorable mentions: Ourderm No More Hair Loss Boost Ample and Silkeed Black Bean Coated Hair Removal Pencil, which just won 2025 Hwahae Beauty Awards. Cannot for the life of me find them on the American side of the WWW.
