Get a Head Start on My 2024 Beauty Predictions
Let's make them happen with these product reccs and such!
OK as promised, here is abelskin’s ultra-exclusive guide to achieving 2024 beauty trends.
Slow Aging
As I mentioned last week, this new Korean phrase focuses on literally letting your skin age as slowly as possible. You can do that by keeping your skin plump, your pores right and tight, and properly maintaining your skin’s moisture barrier. Here are some of my favorite products for these tasks (aka a peak into my current skincare routine):
Skin1004 Probio-Cica Essence Toner: I layer this shit on like nail polish after I wash my face. I add one coat, let it absorb for a second or two, and then, slap on another layer or two. This formula has been super helpful for calming breakouts and keeping my skin from getting super flaky from this erratic NYC climate.
Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum: Once you try this vitamin C, I swear you won’t be able to use any other one on the market ever again. I speak from experience because I recently ran out of it and decided to try another brand just for fun, and let me tell you, I HATE IT. Klairs’ doesn’t smell like bologna La Croix. It isn’t sticky. It doesn’t sting. It makes my skin glisten. Use it every morning, and your pores will thank you.
IOPE Retinol Expert 0.1%: At night, I ~skin cycle, which, for the record, I did long before it took over TikTok. Renee Rouleau told me to use retinol every three days, and I followed suit. I used to have a prescription retinol, but when I ran out, I randomly never re-upped. Honestly, this IOPE one is the next best thing and doesn’t make your skin freak out because it’s super moisturizing.
Dr.Jart+ Pore Remedy 5% Multi-Acid Radiance Peel: The night after I use retinol, I reach for this milky, AHA-spiked goodness. I’ve been savoring my bottle of this for way too long. Nothing else compares to how visibly effective it is for diminishing dullness, dark spots, and texture.
Biodance Glow Essence Cream: I go through moisturizers like Zoloft. (I need to refill both every month.) When I finished this one from K-beauty brand Biodance, I was distraught. I’ve never tried a moisturizer like it. Its texture is perplexing at first — thick in a waxy pomade way rather than a rich, buttery way. Honestly, I was scared to put it on my face because I break out so easily, but I trusted the process. Once you let it literally melt into your skin, it feels absolutely divine. I wake up with skin more bouncy and hydrated than when I first applied it, which is incredibly rare. Spread it onto your skin as if you’re frosting a cake instead of rubbing for best results!
